We are proud of our continued association with Amscot Financial, a locally based financial services firm with offices throughout central Florida. Amscot is committed to building a better community and has focused significant efforts on supporting education as a means to achieve that goal. Fraser MacKechnie, Chief Operating Officer, is an active member of the Foundation’s Communities In Schools committee, a development committee charged with raising funds for at-risk student programs. Amscot will proudly serve as the presenting sponsor for CIS’ annual Comedy Night event for the second consecutive year.
The company believes in extending their support of education throughout the communities they serve. During the month of August, Amscot will be running a promotion called Dollar for Schools in each of its store locations throughout the 15-county area the company serves. Customers will be asked to donate $1, which will then be matched by Amscot up to the first $10,000. Partnering with Amscot on this venture are the Consortium of Education Foundations, the Hillsborough Education Foundation and its Communities In Schools committee.
Amscot is also working on other promotions that will benefit students. They are repeating their highly successful bicycle helmet giveaway in five counties. In addition, they have just donated 100 computers to Computer Mentors Group, a program that provides computers to needy inner-city students free of charge.
We would like to thank Amscot for stepping up to support education both through their financial contributions and through MacKechnie’s personal participation on the Communities in Schools committee. Amscot…they’re more than okay with us!
