AMSCOT FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTES MINI-GRANTS TO
13 NON-PROFIT SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS

Tampa, FL – (October 7, 2009)Amscot Financial, a leading provider of convenient, consumer-oriented financial services, has made mini-grants of $100 to $250 to 13 non-profit service organizations in greater Tampa and greater Orlando. The grants went to:

Single MOM International, Brandon. This organization assists single mothers or
parents in Brandon and surrounding areas to help them become more productive and educated citizens.

Angel Flight Southeast, Leesburg. This organization coordinates of medical and humanitarian air transportation. It helps patients get to treatment facilities within the Southeast United States, from St. Judes Hospital in Memphis to Shriner's facilities locally and everywhere in between.

Stepping Forward Outreach, Tampa. This after-school tutoring program provides a safe environment for students to get the assistance they need with academic studies. It also gives parents peace of mind that their child is safe and not getting into trouble.

Girls Scouts of West Central Florida, Tampa. Built on the world's best personal growth and leadership development model, the Girl Scouts program is girl-led, reflecting the ever-changing needs and interests of today's girls.

Palma Sola Botanical Park, Bradenton. The mission of the Palma Sola Botanical Park Foundation is to serve as a unique community resource dedicated to providing an interactive learning environment. The park fosters an appreciation of nature and landscaping and preserves our natural resources while promoting environmental education.

Egypt Lake Elementary School, Tampa. The school’s parent-teacher association provides activities for students as well as helping with supply needs. The PTA also raises money to purchase clinic supplies for the school nurse.

Suncoast Center, Inc. / Help A Child program, Pinellas Park: The Help A Child program protects children through six programs: Child Protection Team, Child Abuse Recovery Services, Medical Foster Care, Parent Aid/Child Net, Safe Start Partnership, and Sexual Assault Victim Examinations.

The Florida Aquarium, Tampa. The aquarium’s Sponsored Admissions Program provides a day of science enrichment to at-risk, low-income and minority youth and children free-of-charge or at a greatly reduced rate. These youth and children come from Title I schools and non-profit community groups and agencies, such as Head Start and Boys & Girls Clubs. A day at the aquarium offers them the eye-opening opportunity for firsthand exploration of the wonders of nature that make up our unique and fragile environment.

The Greater Melbourne Police Athletic League, Melbourne. This organization organizes a youth program for athletes.

Mayor’s Fund Foundation, Orlando. The foundation’s goal is to steer children away from the juvenile justice system and into something positive and constructive. Recreation combats negative behavior by providing structure and positive choices for children, especially those that are left unsupervised in their free time. 

The Coalition for the Hungry and Homeless of Brevard County, (CHH) Inc., Cocoa. CHH assists Brevard County residents through the When In Need (WIN) program, the WIN/Vet Program for veterans and Victory Village – Homes For Heroes. The principle objective is to provide access to transitional and permanent housing to people who are hardest to house.

Rotary’s Camp Florida, Brandon. This organization serves special-needs children with mental, medical, physical, and emotional challenges. It provides a setting that allows them
to attend camp under the guidance of health professionals and support staff. They do all the things that their able-bodied friends do at camp and learn to deal with their limitations and frustrations.

Women’s Resource Center of Tampa Bay, Inc., New Port Richey. This non-profit assists homeless moms and kids. It offers transitional housing, classes and social services to help moms get their lives back on track.
