AMSCOT FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTES TO HOPE STREET KIDS, SUPPORTING THE FIGHT AGAINST CHILDHOOD CANCER

Tampa, FL – (June 12, 2008) – Amscot Financial, a leading provider of convenient, consumer-oriented financial services, is pleased to announce a $5,000 contribution to Hope Street Kids, a national non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating pediatric cancer.

Hope Street Kids, a pediatric initiative of the Prevent Cancer Foundation, was founded Ohio Congresswoman Deborah Pryce and her husband, Randy Walker, in memory of their nine-year-old daughter, Caroline Pryce Walker, who lost a valiant battle against neuroblastoma on September 4, 1999.

Hope Street Kids supports research, education and advocacy efforts in the fight against childhood cancer.

Pediatric cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children. An estimated 12,500 children will be diagnosed with cancer and 2,500 will die from it this year. One out of every 330 people in the United States will develop cancer before his or her 20th birthday. Some progress has been made. Survival rates for the more common childhood cancers, such as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and leukemia, have risen to nearly 78%.

Yet even with all of the advances in early detection and treatment, only two-thirds of children diagnosed with cancer survive. Childhood cancer occurs regularly, randomly and spares no social, economic or ethnic groups.

Ian MacKechnie, founder and CEO of Amscot Financial, said: “Hope Street Kids is an outstanding organization that has already made a tremendous impact on the very important issue of childhood cancer. We are very impressed that 97 percent of the money they raise goes directly to research and their various programs, and so we are very pleased to make this contribution.”
